(Gr. lithos, stone) Discovered by Arfvedson in 1817. Lightest metal, lighter that water, but highly reactive in water. Less reactive than Na. Highly corrosive and requires special handling. Large deposits currently recovered in California and Nevada in the several rock forms, including spodumene.
